The Airlie Race Week, hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club, is a highlight of the sailing fraternity's sailing calendar. The event provides exciting and varied racing in a spectacular setting. Evenings are fun-filled with relaxed and convivial events. Sailors, friends and family are welcome.
Racing is across multiple divisions, including IRC, PHS, cruising, sportsboats, one design and multihulls, and takes place around the breathtaking islands of the Whitsunday Passage and in Pioneer Bay.
Registration Day is on Friday the 7th of August. Racing starts on Saturday the 8th August and finishes on Friday the 14th August. There will be races each day except the lay day on Tuesday 11th August.
In the evenings check the social calendar for race week official events and choose from a large range of restaurants and eateries around the town.
There is also plenty for the family here in Airlie Beach. The foreshore offers a great lagoon, there are resorts to visit, day trips around the islands, beaches to enjoy and snorkeling for the more active. August temperatures are typically 29 degrees and the water temperature a tropical 28 degrees.
